After three large models, Hanseyachts is now working on the mid-range segments again. The new Hanse 385 comes as a replacement for the Hanse 375

The new Hanse 385 is a consistent new development from the Bremerhaven office of Judel/Vrolijk & Co. and follows on from the 445 (test in YACHT 1/2011), 495 (test in YACHT 8/2011) and 545 (test in YACHT 8/2010) models. It succeeds the successful 37-foot series, which has produced well over a thousand units to date.

Of course, the new boat from Greifswald also adopts the typical Hanse developments, such as the integrated self-tacking jib system with a comparatively high sail plan that is adapted to it. As an alternative to the self-tacking jib, Hanseyachts now also offers a genoa with 106 per cent overlap for the new ship. In line with Hanse's new ship concept, all sheets, halyards and outhauls on the 385 are also routed below deck within easy reach of the helmsman. The running deck thus remains free of fittings, giving the ship a very tidy appearance. A new feature is the large, folding bathing platform at the stern. The stowage spaces for the life raft and gas bottles are hidden behind it.

According to the shipyard, the new 385 will offer around 20 per cent more space than its predecessor. The interior concept is based on the loft-style design of the larger 545, 445 and 495 models. The owner's cabin in the bow offers plenty of comfort and freedom of movement and the wet room has a separate shower compartment. The galley is generously proportioned in the standard version with two cabins. Alternatively, the Hanse 385 is also available in an extended version with three separate cabins, although the galley will then be somewhat smaller.

The lighting and ventilation concept has also been revised. There are two large flush hatches above the owner's cabin, the side windows of the superstructure can be opened and long light strips are provided above both the galley and the wet room.

Hanseyachts has not yet announced the price for the new 385. However, as the shipyard writes in its press release, the boat will be offered at around the same price as its predecessor, the Hanse 375, which was last seen at dealers for around 115,000 euros.
